I’m very happy to announce that one of our instructors, Jeff Salkas, was promoted to sandan (3rd degree black belt) over the weekend during Midwest Summer Special Training 2019. Congratulations Jeff! Well deserved!

Here, we practiced a feeling of taking the initiative early (sen no sen) by stepping in with the counter attack as the attack was coming, as opposed to taking the initiative later (go no sen) by stepping back, blocking, and then counter attacking.
